Kyle Bronson Wins USA Firecracker 50 For The Donnie Tanner Memorial Race #2 For the Late Models At East Bay Raceway Park

July 12, 2014, – Tampa, FL – It looked as if Mother Nature would spoil yet another night of racing, but after a 2 hour rain delay, the crowd would see six divisions tonight as the USA Firecracker 50 for the Donnie Tanner Memorial Series Race #2 would try its third attempt to get the race in after two previous rain dates. Also racing were the Limited Late Models, V8 Warriors, Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Street Stocks, Outlaw Fours and the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers.

First feature of the night went to the Q Auto & Injury Attorneys Street Stocks as they would run a 15 Lap Feature only. Starting on the front row was Thomas Burnside and Larry Chumney,II. Ronnie Heard would take the early lead and had a half a straight away lead until the first caution would come out on lap eight as two cars tangled in turn two. Heard would take the green and had Scotty Kay, Jr. challenging for the lead on lap nine as Scotty crossed the line by just a half car length over Heard. Caution would come out on lap ten as another car spun in turn four. With just five laps to go it would be a single file restart as Kay, Jr., Heard and Tim Gay would tangle causing another caution in turn one. That would hand the lead over to Buck Woodhouse as he went on to win his second feature of the year. Rounding out the top five were Jeff Rodgers, Billy Barstow, David Barwick, II and Matthew Grissom.

Next up were the V8 Warriors for their 15 Lap Feature only with Tommy Hill and Steve Voisinet making up the front row. Tommy Hill quickly grabbed the lead until Raymond Vann took over on lap two. Vann would lead until first caution came out on lap five as Jimmy Baker spun in turn four. Vann would lead the field to the green once again until two more cautions came out. The final green waved on lap seven as Vann would continue to lead the race and go on to win his third feature win of the year. Rounding out the top five were Jeremy Simpson, Jimmy Baker, Jason Burnside and Tommy Hill.

Limited Late Models would be next as they would run a 20 Lap Feature Only. Making up the front row would be John Wilson and Austin Sanders. Sanders quickly grabbed the lead but found himself side by side with current points leader Forrest Gough. On lap three Gough would overtake Sanders as Sanders drove high in turn three allowing Gough to make the pass. By lap six Gough had found himself getting through lapped traffic until caution had come out for three cars tangling in turns one and two. Gough again took the lead and would continue to make his way across the finish line picking up his sixth feature win of the year. Rounding out the top five were Dale Pope, Chris Livernois, Austin Sanders and Timmy Dowling.

Next were the Late Models for their 50 Lap Feature Event. Winning their heats were Phillip Cobb, Josh Peacock and Dalton Myers. For the front row of the feature it would be NASCAR and Nationwide Series driver Scott Lagasse, Jr. and Dalton Myers taking the green flag. Lagasse took the early lead only to have a caution as Dalton Myers spun in turn two. Lagasse, Jr. took the lead again until Doug Horton would take over the top spot on lap two. Horton was making his way through the field very quickly as he began to come upon lap traffic by lap five. But on lap five Shan Smith spun in turn four. Several more cautions would come out as Kyle Bronson had made his way up to second by lap seven getting by Lagasse, Jr. It was on lap thirty two when Phillip Cobb took the lead away from Horton but was penalized for jumping the start. Horton had slowed and come to rest on the track after running in the third spot ending his night. After the penalty for Cobb it put Kyle Bronson as the new leader on the restart on lap thirty six. With just five laps remaining second place Phillip Cobb’s night came to an end as he stopped in turn two. When the final green waved it was Bronson going on to Victory Lane picking up the $2,000 payday. Rounding out the top five were Josh Peacock, David Pollen, Jr., Jamie Slatton and David Schmauss.

Outlaw Fours were next as Brandon Yates and Zach Amundsen won their heats. Don R. Quinn and Nick Hebrank made up the front row for the feature. Hebrank quickly took the lead with Amundsen right on his back bumper. The first caution would come out as Rachelle Rudolph and Don T. Quinn spun in turns one and two. On the restart Hebrank would lead the field to the green again but caution came out once again as Rudolph spun again in turn two ending her night with a twelfth place finish. Hebrank again would lead the way but on lap three Amundsen and Hebrank crossed the start finish line side by side and Amundsen would take the lead on the very next lap and would go on to win the feature. Rounding out the top five were Brian Barse, Brittany Yates, Brandon Yates and Nick Hebrank.

The final feature of the night belonged to the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers as Britt Mann and Richard Humfeld won their heats. Making up the front row would be Patrick Fiore, Sr. and Eddie Summitt. Brett Calonge would lead lap one but Kayla Jones would take the lead on lap two and never looked back as the 15 Lap Feature would go caution free. Rounding out the top five were Britt Mann, Eddie Summitt, Richard Humfeld, and Brett Calonge.
