Street Stocks, motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers and Dirt Daubers joined with the NeSmith Dirt Late Models for a Saturday night of racing at East Bay Raceway Park.
Tim McCreadie prevailed in the fifth annual Crate Late Model World Championship by winning the 100-lapper. Complete details can be found at www.nesmithracing.com.
The East Bay Street Stocks closed off their year with a 23-car field in a 15-lap main. The event saw a horrific accident in the early stages when Gary Sheffield and Howard Osteen tangled in the backstretch with several cars piling in. One lost an entire rear axle assembly that catapaulted down the track and fire broke out as Osteen and Jarod Gay sat in their cars. The drivers were not hurt, thanks to the quick response of the rescue crews. Another multi-car pileup slowed the pace with a half dozen cars gathered in the fourth turn. The division found itself running out of time and a green-white-checkered was put in, finishing the race at 13 laps. Buck Skinner notched his 11th win of the year, chased to the line by Thomas Pratt. Unofficial point champion Donnie Reed claimed third with Matthew Grissom and Sheffield in the top five. Pratt, Osteen and Sheffield claimed heats.
The motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bombers staged for a 125-lap main, bringing 19 cars out for action. Robert Kissam led most of the race, but it was a pass by Roberto Morfin Jr. in the late stages that put the young driver in Victory Lane for his fifth win of the year, tightening the point standings. Robert Kissam kept second with Wayne Kissam, Roberto Morfin Sr. and Kever Raulerson in the top five. Raymond Vann, point leader Jim Baker and Robert Kissam took heat wins.
A field of 10 Dirt Daubers ran the final event of the night with Scotty Williams and Jimmy Lloyd the class of the field.
