LIMITED LATE MODEL RULES |
THIS IS A PROTEST DIVISION
A. CARS
1. Any American manufactured car is eligible for competition
with the following exceptions.
a. Any cars categorized or classified as Sports Cars or
Sub-Compacts, trucks and vans are ineligible.
2. All cars must be stock. (Except where specified).
3. No radios.
B. BODIES
1. Late Model bodies Optional with 8"spoiler. Lexan only.
2. All bodies must remain stock appearing (see late model
drawings).
3. Wheel wells may be cut for minimum tire clearance only.
4. After market steel and/or aluminum bodies may be used and
must remain stock appearing.
5. NO fiberglass bodies allowed. A fiberglass roof and hood are
allowed.
Must be able to prove that these items meet fire retardant
standards.
6. Stock-type nose pieces are optional.
7. No lowering of roofs.
8. Factory-type bumpers or round tubing in original location. NO
SHARP EDGES. ALL BUMPERS MUST TURN BACK TOWARD FRAME.
9. No wings, no mirrors.
10. Skirts allowed 6" below front bumper.
11. TUNNEL... Full firewall (right half) is no longer required
as long as the interior of car is boxed in. Drivers’ side must
have full floorboard. Drivers’ seat must be 3" ahead of left
rear wheel.
12. Must have tow hook on front and rear of car.
13. FULL WINDSHIEL SCREEN MANDATORY. (maximum 1x2 square).
14. Pick-up truck bodies - OK. Must have truck type nose.
CHASSIS AND SUSPENSION
1. All front chassis and suspension pieces and parts must be
stock and/or stock equivalent replacement parts. Rear frame
optional. 107 inch minimum wheel base. 1 inch plus to 1 inch
minus tolerance.
2. Frame to body or motor to frame optional. Engine to body
optional.
3. All front suspension must hook up to original sub location.
Upper A-FRAME brackets may be raised for leveling purposes only.
Upper A- FRAME may be relocated for correct cashier and camber.
4. Steering boxes must remain as supplied by manufacturer.
a. The gear box assembly referred to as a steering quickener is
allowed.
B. Steering boxes must remain in stock location for clip being
used.
5. Suspension must remain completely stock from frame with the
folowing exceptions:
a. Racing shocks permitted. Stock body shocks only. No aluminum.
b. Wedge bolts permitted.
c. No shocks with coil over springs: coil over eliminator
allowed.
d. Tubular A-frames optional nonadjustable.
e. Steering rods may be shortened or lengthened.
f. Coil buckets must be in stock location.
g. Tie rod ends may use steel or aluminum adjustment sleeves
plus
h. Helm tie rods. STEEL HELM JOINTS ONLY.
i. Aftermarket spindles OK.
k. No rack and pinon steering.
6. Sway bars and safety hubs on front are optional.
7. Rear leaf spring may be interchanged. No fiberglass springs.
Sliders on rear leaf cars permitted.
8. Single pan hard bars may be used on coil spring cars only,
but must be approved by Tech Inspector. Heim ends may be used
for mounting. NO adjustments while running.
10. All cars must maintain complete front clips.
11. Coil cars, rearends, trailing arms, stock location only. May
be adjustable to correct rear end alignment. These arms cannot
be used as a link set up. Cannot be spring loaded or used as a
fifth shock. 3-link suspension or stock type leaf spring. NO
Fiberglass or carbon fibre leaf springs. All trailing arms on
rear suspension must be steel. NO ALUMINUM TRAILING ARMS.
NO 4-BAR SUSPENSIONS. Birdcages on rear end allowed, but must be
bolted to rear end so it cannot swivel. Trailing arms must be
welded together and have only one mount point at frame on each
side.
D. REAR END
1. Rear End may be locked, Interchanged in rear end permitted.
2" offset rearends. Quick change optional. Stock floaters
optional. No Detroit lockers or any other rachet type rear end;
spools are authorized, steel or aluminum. NO ALUMINUM TUBE REAR
ENDS. STEEL TUBE REAR ENDS ONLY.
2. Rear safety hub. Dual spline axle (safety hub) will be
allowed. Grand National type.
E. BRAKES
Brake and clutch pedals may be stock or after market style. Four
wheel disc brakes permitted. Stock type only. All must be
operating. Right front brake optional. NO ALUMINUM CALIPERS.
F. DRIVE SHAFT
Stock with safety strap or chain. MUST BE PAINTED WHITE. May be
altered for length. NO ALUMINUM. NO CARBON FIBER.
G. TRANSMISSION
Stock type....NO quick change transmissions. Must have
operational reverse gear. Automatics may remove torque
converter.
H. CLUTCH
Any type clutch in stock location. No ram couplers. MUST HAVE A
3" INSPECTION HOLE IN BELL HOUSING.
I. RADIATOR
a. Must be in stock location.
b. Aluminum radiators allowed.
J. ENGINE
1. Engine must be stock except for those items specifically
spelled out in these rules. NO interchanging of internal pars.
No high performance engine or parts. ALL accessories must be
powered by engine. MINI-STARTERS ALLOWED. No aftemarket blocks.
Manufacturer only.
GM 602 Crate Motor (steel head)is allowed and must weigh a
minimum 2600 pounds with driver after completion of event. Crate
motored cars will be allowed to run a 12" rear spoiler. All seal
bolts must be in proper place and untampered to recieve breaks.
All "Crate Motors" are subject to tear down rules same as "Open
Style " engines.
All "Open Style" engined cars must weigh a minimum 2700 pounds
with driver after completion of the event.
a) Oil pump. Engine oil pump may be high pressure and high
volume. (stock configuration)
b) If you are running CHEV 400 block, you will be allowed to run
cooling lines to help cool the engine. Check with TECH before
doing so. This also applies to all V8 engines.
2. Block:
Milling of block permitted. Porting or polishing block is not
permitted. NO ALUMNUM BLOCK. Liter trays and screen on top of
block allowed.
3. PISTONS:
-Any flat top piston, maximum .060 overbore, plus .015
tolerance. Floating wrist pins allowed.
a. Engines may be balanced.
4. RODS AND CRANKSHAFT:
Stock stroke for block being used.
a. 5.7" long or 5.65" long only
b. Any steel rod.
c. Polished stock rods.
d. Crank balancing optional.
e. Minimum weight on crank - 48 lbs.
5. HEADS & VALVES
a. Any ratio rocker arms.
b. All heads must remain within one degree of 23 degree valve
angle heads. Dart Heads, World Products Heads
4360 76cc 1.940" x 1.500" valves with 11/32 guides )Bare Heads

Max 194 heads. NO titanium valves. Valve retainer optional.
Stainless stee valves O.K. No porting, polishing or gasket
matching. NO ALUMINUM HEADS. Ford must run stock valve spring
diameter and push rod. Screw-in studs and guide plates optional.
Roller rockers optional. Valve strings optional machine of head
for large valve spring O.K.

6. INTAKE MAINIFOLD:
May alter market 4-barrell intake may be used. No porting or
polishing, or gasket matching allowed.
a. Maximum 1.65 inch height adapter plate between carburetor and
intake manifold. This includes spacer plus 2 gaskets.
b. No item or device of any kind may protrude more than a
maximum of 4" verticle through the hood.
7. ENGINE LOCATION -
CHEVROLET--Most forward plug even with working ball joint. NO
tolerance.
FORD—4” setback—with no tolerance
MOPAR—4” setback—with no tolerance
8. CAMSHAFT -
any flat tappet cam and lifters - No mushroom lifters or roller
cams. 1.500 rockers only Fords check with Tech.
a. Because any flat top cam ins allowed, comparable components
to the cam will be allowed i.e. lifters-slotted rocker
arms-screw in studs. Any item not mentioned here must be
identified and reviewed by Tech Inspector prior to it's use. (if
approved) Any nonadjustable push rod.
9. IGNITION
Any stock factory electronics permitted. Dual point distributor
may be used as long as one side is blocked off and functions
only as a single point system. NO external coil wires on G.M.
electronic dist. NO MSD BOXES.
a. No MSD boxes allowed even if a auto mfg. provided a part
numbered after market item.
b. One 12-volt battery per car. NO 18-volt batteries.
c. No battery inside driver's compartment.
10. ALUMINUM WATER PUMP PERMITTED
K. FUEL SYSTEMS
1. NO ROTARY FUEL PUMPS. NO ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP
2. Any stock (GM TO GM) fuel pump or after market pump. Carter,
Holley, etc. 8 lbs. pressure MAX.
L. CARBURETOR
For all divisions using the Holley 4412 2 bbl. Carburetor:
1. Must use 1 two-barrel carburetor as follows:
2. Holley #4412 500 CFM with following modifications allowed.
a. Choke plate may be removed.
b. Jets and Power valve may be changed.
c. NO Other modifications to increase air flow.
d. Billett metering blocks allowed.
3. Only straight type squirter as shown may be used.
Modifications to the carburetor or any of it's components, or
substitution of other than Holley parts without prior permission
of East Bay Raceway Park. will cause the vehicle to be
classified as illegal. Screw must extend minimum of .060
protruding through bar (thread side).
4. Fuel tanks 22 gal. Maximum. No electric fuel pumps. Fuel
petroleum base. (GAS!) Regular pump type gas, CAM2 or
equivalent. NO TRICK ADDITIVES...NO ALCOHOL, etc.
M. WHEEL AND TIRES
Refer to EAST BAY RACEWAY PARK RACING Tires (813); Gene
Slaughter (813) 689-7434. Max. 10" steel wheel. No aluminum
wheels or bead locks allowed.
No tire softeners. NO soaking of tires. NO preheating of tires.
No chemicals of any type inside tire except oxygen or nitrogen.
If found, minimum $500.00 fine, loss of all points accrued to
date and possible suspension. This could turn into EPC problem
if continues. No grinding or removal of factory markings.
N. EXHAUST SYSTEMS
Headers or stock exhaust manifolds O.K. Mufflers mandatory at
all times. Cars must finish races with mufflers. Approved track
mufflers.

2. Turn Downs are optional.
MUFFLERS ARE MANDATORY
All mufflers must remain on vehicle and be in working condition
through-out race.
98 decibel maximum measured at trackside.
Definition of stock means no modification to factory parts or
factory specifications.
WEIGHT - Total weight minimum after race with driver 2700 lbs.
Top 5 finishers must go across scale after feature and then
report directly to TECH SHED. Tech inspector will inspect first
five and anyone else track sees fit.
RULE BOOK DISCLAIMER
The rules and /or regulations set forth herein are designed to
provide for the
orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum
acceptable
requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the
condition of all
events, and by participating in these events, all participants
are deemed to have
complied with these rules. No expressed or implied warranty of
safety
shall result from the publication of or compliance with these
rules and/or
regulations. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the
sport and in
no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant,
spectator, or
official.
The race director shall be empowered to permit reasonable and
appropriate
deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any
further
restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum
acceptable
requirements. No expressed or implied warranty of safety shall
results
from such alterations of specifications. Any interpretation or
deviation of
these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. Their
discretion is final.
On occasion when situations arise that are not covered by
written rules,
special rulings may be put into effect by the track officials.
Once such
rulings are acted upon, they may become an act of policy and
will be added to
the existing rules of procedures.
